Investing in real estate is an excellent, long-term tested way to grow wealth. Unsurprisingly, many books have been written on the subject, ranging from success stories and strategies to how-to and technical manuals. Seemingly every single successful real estate investor under the sun writes his or her own book. Therefore it can be hard to decide which one should be next on your reading list. We have gathered some of the best real estate books on investing that will inspire and educate readers, from the novice to the veteran real estate investors. Here are some of our favorites.

1. Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

This classic is one of the most famous books written about personal finances and has been a success since its publication over 20 years ago. The topic of the book is to instruct the readers on what the rich are teaching their kids about money that the poor are not. Although it is not specifically about real estate investment, Rich Dad, Poor Dad emphasizes investing in tangible assets, including real estate and small businesses.

2. Building Wealth One House at a Time by John Schaub

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned investor, there are lessons to be taken from these nine-steps program written by a real estate veteran. He carefully explains how to obtain million dollars of assets without going into debt. It also includes several chapters offering invaluable insight on topics beyond a basic how-to. It covers subjects such as real estate cycles, financing real estate purchases, negotiation techniques, and retirement investing.

3. The Book on Flipping Houses by J Scott

Thanks to popular reality TV programs, everybody thinks that they can become a millionaire overnight by flipping houses. Obviously, nothing could be further from the truth. That’s where the Book of Flipping Houses comes in to fill up the blanks. It is a thorough guide and a must-read if you are interested in the flipping real estate business and even experienced renovators might pick up a thing or two. From learning how to evaluate potential markets to getting financing for a rehab property to hiring contractors, and eventually putting the home back on the market, you cannot go wrong with this one.

4. Every Landlord Legal Guide by Marcia Stewart, Ralph Warner, & Janet Portman

Even the most successful landlord can find him or herself ruined by one too many lawsuits. Thankfully, this book can guide you through the ins and outs of tenant-landlord laws to avoid a financially and emotionally draining mistake. It includes everything a landlord should know. It covers common issues such as security deposits, evictions, and lease terminations as well as less common ones like landlord liability, subletting requests, and solving disagreements without a lawyer.

5. The Book on Investing in Real Estate with No (and Low) Money Down by Brandon Turner

One of the most significant barriers to investing in real estate is the sheer cost of it. This book can allow would-be and seasoned investors alike to investigate non-traditional financing techniques to create a successful real estate empire without depleting your assets in the process.
